FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of wax do you use?
We use premium wax blends chosen for a clean, smooth burn and strong scent throw. Each candle is carefully tested to ensure performance and quality. For most of the candles we make, we use a blend of Paraffin & Soy wax, some blends are 50/50, some blends are 70/30. We also make some of our candles with pure Paraffin or pure Soy depending on the candle. Other candles (stated in descriptions) have Gel wax "ice cube" embeds. Check out each individual candle description for more information on wax types.
Are your candles handmade?
Yes! Every KilaNova candle is hand-poured in small batches. We focus on quality over mass production, which means extra care goes into each scent, wick, and jar combination.
Why are your candles more expensive than store brands?
Our candles are made with premium materials, small-batch production methods, and extensive burn testing. Unlike mass-produced candles, each one is crafted with care, quality components, and attention to detail.
How long should I burn my candle?
For best results:
-
Burn your candle 2–4 hours at a time
-
Allow the wax to melt across the entire surface during the first burn
-
This helps prevent tunneling and promotes an even burn
Do I need to trim the wick?
Yes. Always trim the wick to ¼ inch before each burn. This helps:
-
Control the flame height
-
Reduce soot
-
Extend the life of your candle
Why does my candle look different from the photos?
Because our candles are hand-poured, slight variations in color, texture, or appearance are normal. This is part of the charm of small-batch, artisan products.
What are wood wick candles?
Wood wick candles use a natural wooden wick that creates a soft crackling sound as it burns. They provide a cozy, fireplace-like experience and are part of our Emberlight-style collections.
Can I use my candle on a warmer instead of lighting it?
Yes! Most of our candles can be safely used on a candle warmer. This is a great option if you prefer a flameless experience.
Do you offer gift options?
Yes. Many of our candles and seasonal boxes are perfect for gifting. We frequently release limited-edition collections and special sets for holidays and events.
How long will my candle last?
Burn time varies depending on the size, wick type, and fragrance load. Estimated burn times are listed on each product page.
What should I do if my candle tunnels?
Let the candle burn long enough to reach a full melt pool. If tunneling has already started, allow a longer burn session to help even out the wax.
When should I stop burning my candle?
Stop burning your candle when ½ inch of wax remains at the bottom of the jar for safety.
Do you accept returns or exchanges?
Due to the nature of handmade products, we generally do not accept returns on used candles. If your order arrives damaged or incorrect, please contact us and we’ll make it right.
